After students assess their Square 1 projects, they will continue to stay busy in my art class!
Here's what we'll be working on in October:
Kinders: "Shapes" Mosaics
1st: African Symmetrical Masks
2nd: Pop Art, The Still Life
3rd: African Sunsets
4th: Native American Shields
5th: Kentucky Celebrations, Derby Style Art
The 2nd and 3rd grade students will be participating in the PTA Reflections contest with their upcoming projects. The 5th graders will be participating in the Derby Festival and Derby Museum "Horsing Around With Art" contests with their upcoming projects.
We also do "Be Creative" Centers every six weeks and students will be receiving their first "Art Store" paycheck very soon.

Fifth Grade Loves Finger Weaving!
My fifth grade figured out how to finger weave in an interesting way. One student started it and slowly added more students onto his "chain". Four students were weaving one large piece. We ran out of time before they added the fifth student. Very smart and creative!
3rd Grade Rizzi Birds: These should be framed!
The original idea for this project is from www.deepspacesparkle.com
As I always do with all inspired art projects, I added my own twist, making them narrative!

Fourth Grade Native American Myth Shields
Here is the start of our Narrative shields project. Students had to develop a myth that explains why something in the world is the way it is. (ex. Why Polar Bears Are White) Then they created a shield based on their ideas.
